Hi and thanks in advance for all responses.

Just purchased a Fender Jaguar off ebay - the serial number and markings on the neck make it a "Made In Japan" from 1994-95 JG66 BEX

This makes me satisfied that the neck is authentic - but how do I tell if the body is also a Made In Japan JG66 from 1994-95?

There is nothing at all marked in the neck pocket. There are no markings at all under the pick guard and no markings on or under the pickups.

Do I need to remove all the switch plates, bridge to find something?

Maybe I'm just being paranoid but it seems odd that there are no markings on the body. Also the guitar is supposedly 15+ years old and it's in mint condition with the plastic still on the pickups and the pick guard.

I can send pictures if that would be helpful.

Again, thanks for any help.

Adam

No offense meant here, but the MIJ stuff is not so collectable that folks are trying to forge it or change out a body...much more likely to see a neck swap. I would not worry about it. But go ahead and post some pics, those will certainly help.

Having said all that most MIJ from that era have something in the neck pocket, but not all, my 85 MIJ '54 Reissue Esquire had no neck pocket markings but the under the bridge there was a stamp into the wood that said '54 but nothing more...I bought it brand new so knew it had not been tampered with.

FWIW

+1

I've seen unmarked neck pockets on MIJ/CIJ bodies before and I've also seen some that did have ink-stamped or hand-penciled notes. I wouldn't give it a second though unless close scrutiny revealed something more significant to be seriously amiss.

It doesnt matter. Its an
a) reissue
b) non-american
c)shortscale

its not near the front of the line of people caring.
The body's value is the same as an aftermarket one so it doesnt matter.
