I know they are a lot of money these days - but ever time I get them out - I'm Sooo glad that I have them.

I don't remember now what the price was, (that was years ago) but I sure do enjoy them. (it seems to me that they get better with age)

Isn't that what it's all about - enjoying playing a good instrument?

edited for;
(well ... and plus the satisfaction of knowing that those listening enjoyed your work)

What year are they from?

Sorry ... I don't remember. :|

I think these two are from about 1990, or so.
But the craftsmanship is excellent!! (probably better than those in the '60s - IMHO :D )

Hmmm. I have my doubts about that.

My 1963 custom color matching headstock Jazzmaster.

NICE looking Jazzmaster!!!! 8)

Mine are the three color sunburst. :D
(of course they look like the Fender pictures of them)
If I could afford it - I would have ever color Jazzmaster that was ever made.
It's an excellent playing and sounding guitar! (IMHO of course  ) 8)

The Jaguar is nice two - but I favor the Jazzmaster.

I have a '65 Jag that Bill Gates doesn't have the scratch to buy from me,there's something about the Jag and Jazz that's just addictive,I guess it boils down to the combination of great tones and super cool styling.BTW back in 1974 I could've bought a '58 Jazzmaster for just $150,it had been poorly refinished but still was a great player. I had to pass on it though as my buddy and I were hitching acroos the province and were way over on the west coast so the idea of hitching back with the guitar and the rest of our gear was out of the question.I guess in retrospect I could've gotten the dealer to courier it to me.It's too bad that hindsight has 20/20 vision.

Wish that I had never sold my '67 Jaq (sunburst.) But we do some dumb things sometimes.

Yes ... I also wish I had back some of those that I let go .... But life was going by in a blur, and I was trying too many things back then. (life in the fast lane, you know  ) Like you said hindsight is perfect, and I shouldn't have wasted so much of that part of life.

It was Uncle Sam in my case. Didn't have much use for a Jag and Twin. Hindsight....

Yep, I understand completely :| .... I put in some time there too. But the last part of that was a blur too, since it was spent in a hospital ... and the other part I wish could be forgotten.

Also had a "muscle car", or two :P that I wish I had now, but that's life, I guess.

I still prefer the Fender Jazzmaster over ANY other guitar ... even over the much hyped Mosrite. Nothing sounds as good to me as a Jazzmaster through a good Fender amp, wheather it's a Twin, a Dual Showman or a '64 Vibroverb .... all with plenty of reverb and some vibrato (tremolo) dialed in.

But all that is IMHO .... ok? (don't want to start a war :) )

My first electric was a Teisco Del Ray or some such animal. Sunburst with big chrome pup covers. Then I started playing Jazzmaster. Finally moved UP to a Jaguar.

I gave mine away in 1966, to a friend back home who was playing in a band. I was drafted and in VietNam when this happened. I guess I would like to still have it... but not as much as the two years of my youth that were stolen from me.

My first electric was a Kay with their "soap bar" pickup.
As for my JM/Jag - I got this Jaguar AFTER the Jazzmaster, but moved back to the Jazzmaster because of my own preferences. :| You know - you just like one better than another. It "fits" (so-to-speak :P )
(we like what we like  )

I volunteered - so I can't really complain about what happened to me. :?

One thing is for sure - you are FOREVER changed after that.

Volunteered here as well. Thought Coast Guard would be easy until I got to New York and noticed the Vietnam Campaign ribbon on the bridge of all the cutters. Then reality set in. Almost went to Tan Mei (sp) but got sent to Iwo Jima instead. Shetland Islands after that. The only Stateside duty I got was boot and schools. Not complaining, That's where I learned electronics (Coast Guard still used tubes and parasitic suppressors.) The only solid state we had was always broken and stayed broke.

Had I stayed in for a full 30, I would have been slated for discharge on 9/12/2001......

USMC here.
My "career" was cut short. All I managed was a year.
Medical discharge after a stay in Balboa Naval Hospital.
Still having therapy sessions for PTSD, and medical treatment for disablity.
(that's more than I have been able to "admit" in over 40+ years :( )

Sounds like the forum may be good for you then. No inter-service rivalry here. 8)

I was lucky to have heard Magic Slim, who plays a Jazzmaster, and to find in a pawnshop, this '66 Jazzmaster
Image

I played it on most of Snapper Mitchum's Born In The Ghetto CD, and used it while backing Lefty Dizz Image

(screenshot from the blues fest video)

I used to record my Soundclick #1 surf music track 'Overboard', and my #2 surf music track 'Surf Ohio' http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10186837
