Hey all,

Could someone clarify the pickup controls.

On the lead circuit (Closest to the neck) Am I right in saying when the selector is in the up position the rhythm is kicked in. In down position, towards the neck (floor, if you will) the lead is selected. Then, in the lead position the bottom controls kick in allowing you to use the bridge and neck pickup. I have been looking for a diagram online everywhere to simplify it but cant find anything. Arrghh! Hope I've written this coherently.

Thanks,

Jon

To the best of my knowledge, that is correct. You can use the 65 Jag manual as a guide.

If you have the Classic Player HH, the wiring is way different.

Just mess around with it. My Jag HH didn't come with a manual, I just had to figure it out. It's not that hard, just takes some judicious "foolin' around".

The only thing I'm not 100% sure of is exactly what the extra slider next to the pickup on and off slider switches does ????
It has an effect on the tone so I assume its a capacitor ??? (bright switch) ?

Technically? It is a Tone Modification Switch. Yep, just a capacitor. Some call it a "strangle switch." Depending on where you have your master tone set (next to the volume) you might not even notice this switch doing anything. And, like the pickup switches, it only functions when the switch on the upper horn is toward the neck.

At least, I am assuming it works the same way on the Special HH. Word has it on the Classic Player HH that it is a kill switch, silencing everything.

Maybe thats why I didn't hear much change, my tone knob is always on ten wide open.

anything else sounds so muddy to me.

I'm more of a strat guy, I kinda bought this with my son in mind, His generation seems to dig the Jags (20 year old punk kids) But hey he a great 20 year old punk so.......
Does have an interesting clean sound, pushes my bandmaster reverb and a 2x12 into some cool sonic flavors 8)

LOL, Punks?

I cut my teeth on the Jags of the sixties way back in the sixties. Which makes me almost 60. Real Jags are awesome instruments. I have three but none with buckers. I use a Les Paul for that and a Tele for my country twang.

Seems like every band the boy listens to either has a Jaguar or a Tele with humbuckers in it.

Crazy thing was watching some videos with him and like six bands in a row had a guitar player with a Humbucker Tele in it.

I thought that was strange !

I will forever be a vintage wound single coil strat and Gibby P-90 guy !

It could be worse. They could all be playing Ibanez

Be thankful that they are playing Fenders. 8)

My kid started with an SG and has been a strat player for several years now.

He really digs the Cheap 60's and 70's japan stuff, i just found him one the other day a girl had in her closet for over 20 years and it dates to 65, looks like its two weeks old !!!
I have to admit it sounds cool through my 57 Valco 6V6GT tube amp 8)

I spent the last nine years buying (bottom feeding) all kinds of guitars and amps and reselling them on e-bay, Craigs List etc.....
Being a Bail Bonds Agent allowed me to hunt many a garage sale, Pawn shop, resale shop and other, I have found some awesome gems over the years.
Now I've trimmed down to just what I need for myself and my twenty year old son.

Still can't resist checking Craigs list a few times a day and the pawn shop guys have become great friends so......
I do get in there a few times a week.

Had to stop the evil bay thing when they stoped backing the sellers in any way what so ever.
I highly recomend you don't sell your prized collection there, you will get ripped off !!!
I'm down to the amps on my signature and a 1950's English Electronics Tonemaster
That isn't a fender but sounds cool as.......well you know !
