Brand-new, straight out of the box Jazzmaster Classic Player!
I cannot find one flaw on it! Clean, beautiful finish. Pups sweet and hum-free. Lots of varied sounds and tones. Easy (for me) to get to the upper neck, better than my Strat! Love the weight and look (Triple Sunburst, not the black), though my favorite is simple finished wood.

Even the gig bag is twice as padded as the BlackTop series.

Took all of 20 minutes to get the intonation set spot on, and adjust the tremolo lock. No need to adjust neck relief or mess with the truss rod, or that angle of the neck.

There's just one little problem: They left out the little bag with the manual, the warranty registration, and the whammy bar! If the guitar (and gig bag) hadn't been EXACTLY as I wanted them I would have been seriously upset....but how do you leave that stuff out??????

So I went online (here) and downloaded the 1964 Jazzmaster manual. Only the bridge is different. Everything else is pretty much unchanged.

It just feels so good!

Check the zippered pouch on the gig bag -- sometimes the accessories are packed there.

Gee. Why didn't I think of that?

(that was the first place I looked. Took all the packing apart, too, twice)

But thanks for trying to help.

It really does feel good to play! The neck just seems to suit me perfectly. And I love the retro body shape of the Jazzmasters and Jaguars.

Yeah, I got it through GC and they are on it, going back to Fender with the S/N, which seems a bit much since it's what? a $10 item, retail. GC's been really good about fixing problems. They took back the BT I had originally gotten w/o a problem (humming pups, and dinged and chipped--ok on used, but not on a new instrument), and, when there was a problem with crediting the return, simply and quickly cut me a check.

I think Fender's packer just missed it. Also the inspection tag was for a Strat!

But this is all piddly stuff, easily handled. The 900 lb gorilla in the room is that the guitar is EXACTLY what I wanted, and in the condition I wanted, and plays the way I wanted.

I even like the gig bag--much thicker and better padded than the cheapie that comes with the BT. I like the Road Runner bags, but with this, I don't need one for it.

My Classic Player Jaguar was perfect as well, but DID come with manual and Trem arm. Be advised though, There is no manual for the Jaguar or Jazzmaster currently. The manual that is shipped is for Strat and Tele and even contains info on locking tuners and Floyd Rose Trems.

If you go to Support, Knowledge Base, Product Manuals, you will see that there is one manual.
Fender® Electric Guitars and Basses Owner's Manual (Current)

But, as far as the electronic and Trem details, yes, look in the 65 or 74 manual. I wrote to Fender Customer support and they emailed me a PDF with the wiring diagram and parts list as well. Very helpful people.

I love it. But not quite as much as my 62 CS Jag.

Thanks!
I did download those manuals...the 1964 was particularly helpful. The bridge isn't the same but everything else was...and the bridge on the new CP is pretty easy and obvious to set up nicely. But the '64 man has good info the electrics and the truss rod.

Trem is the same as well except it is a little closer to the bridge. Slightly more break angle. Smooth playing instrument. Does yours also have the vintage style tuners?

The CP Jazzmaster is my main guitar. The pots are 1 meg and when turned all the way up give you a great and snappy chime in the "both pickups" position.

Make sure when you get the tremolo arm that you get the little spring that goes into the slot. In fact, Fender sells those little springs separately in packages of a dozen for about $6. They're sold everywhere. I keep a few in my case because I need to remove the trem arm to close the case, and those springs can easily get lost.

Yes, it has the vintage tuners with the slots for the string ends, and the vintage truss rod pocket at the base of the neck (I actually think the head-stock access is an improvement. Easier to adjust and the hex wrench is less likely to slip.)

I haven't posted any pics because it looks just like the Jazzmaster Classic Player ad they post (and just took down) when you came to this site--the 3-color sunburst, not the black.

It's fun to compare it to my MIM Strat. The Strat has the modern tuners, but I like the vintage better. I think they hold the strings better. The CP looks VERY retro!

Great tip about the springs...I forgot about them!

Forgot about the springs, I got mine from Sam Ash or Musicians Friend. Can't remember which. But they were $4.99 or $5.99 for a dozen. "Tremelo Arm Spring" is usually works for the search term on their sites, and they are described to fit "Fender American Series tremolo." But they fit American, Japanese Strats, and even some Floyd Rose licensed brideges, as well as CP Jag and Jazz. I hear they work on the Cyclone as well.

I think the current Fender part number is 099-4931-000

Congrats on the CP Jazz,it's a much better choice than the HH jobbies that they have as it has the tone that drew everyone to the original Jazz-please post pix-love to see her.

Thanks! I was very disappointed with the Black Top version when I got it home.

"Her"?

Not planning on using it as a boat...
