Couple of months ago i picked up a very roughed up 1977 Fender Musicmaster that somebody had routed badly for a humbucker and painted with white house paint . Well after 2 months work the restoration is finally complete :D

Before:

here is my original Mockup:

The additions that i have made include as many period correct parts as i could get.
-70s Fender Mustang Pickguard
-70s Fender hole-less pickup cover
-70s Fender Bronco Knobs
-Fender Custom 69 Abigail Ybarra bridge pickup(new)
-Fender Mustang plate(new)

Everything else on the guitar was original.
And here she is now :D

Rehearsed with this today so i thought i would give you all a report.

Played it through a Laney VC30 which wasn't my amp but was fairly close to mine (Lionheart l5t)
on all pickup positions this thing sounded great. I was surprised by how different it was to my Strat
it was much punchier and warmer and cut through nicely im particularly fond of the both pickups selection as it has a nice balanced sound to it.

played mostly clean with it today with a hint of crunch and it sounded perfect throughout
the only thing im not particularly happy with is the drastic volume drop on the volume pot
its not as sensitive as on my Strat.

I advise anyone doing a project similar to this to look at the Fender Custom Shop 69 pickup
i bought this on a whim because it was going for £30 on Ebay and boy im glad i did it goes perfectly with the original Musicmaster pickup

Overall for a project that came to £450 altogether i feel i did well

Great job ! I have longed to do the exact same thing to my 1977 Musicmaster. The only thing stopping me is I would hate to ruin whatever collector value it has by filling the holes and mounting the 60's pickguard and spraying over the original finish! If I keep looking at your pics though, I may have to give in, LOL :D
