First off, howdy. Been lurking a long time.

I recently got a Blacktop Jazzmaster that had some mods done to the wiring and a bridge pup swap that I'm not going to keep. Anyhow, I know there have been some issues with the stock wiring so, instead of stock, what would you recommend?

I'll just go with standard, I guess, and go with 500Ks and .047s. I just am not that familiar with JMaster pups and was wondering if the stock wiring I am hearing some folks talk about was to address some kind of phase issue or something between the JMaster and 'Bucker. I DO know missing caps and taped joints probably aren't right. The stock 'bucker is going back in, but coming back out, unless I fall in love with it, which is the reason for the cap choice.

I just bought a brand-new unmodified JM-BT, and I hearing hum from the neck pickup and a bigger hum when I touch the metal on the pup switch. The bridge pup is silent. What's going on? Is this a warranty fix or simple (I'm good with a soldering iron)?
Thanks!

Update: Didn't want to mess with it. Upgrading to a CP for another $230.

the neck pup is a standard JM single coil, which(like all single coils)hums. the bridge pup is a humbucker which doesnt hum. the hum gets worse when you touch metal could pe a grounding issue(i think) hope that helps

Thanks, but I brought the BT back to GC and traded up to a Jazzmaster Classic Player a few weeks ago. Much happier for all of $200 more.
