My friends daughter swung her Stratocoustic guitar at her boyfriend during a heated discussion and broke one of the tuning machines.
Does anybody know how I can get one of those?
I've been to several guitar centers and independent shops and nobody has them.
I'd really like to get one of the originals so I don't have to drill the head.
If you know how to get one of the OEM replacement parts, the ordering procedure or who to contact I'd be very appreciative.
For providing this information I'll include you in a portion of my lottery winnings should I hit the jackpot.
The tuning machine is a smooth chrome with a single screw on the back to hold it.
Every stratocoustic I've seen has the same ones.
I'm very disappointed in the Guitar Center in Modesto, CA. The tech told me I'd have to bring the guitar in so he could see it. I just pointed to the one hanging on the wall (the guitar was purchased from that location just months before) and said "but you have on hanging right there..." He grumbled and pulled it off the wall.
He then started complaining about Fender and how difficult they are to work with and how they won't be able to get a replacement key.
Does it have to be this hard?
I just want a single tuning machine that is original equipment.
I'll pay! I'll even buy the whole set if I have to!
Somebody help me!

Here's a link to the guitar.

Welcome.

I hate to say it but unless you can find a more experienced guitar service technician who has a spare in his/her parts bin and is willing to let it go separately, machine heads are usually only sold in sets. It is exasperating where yes, they choose to be this hard and unless you can prove it a warranty where even at this, you may still very well wind up waiting an eternity for a solitary replacement.

However...

Today's your lucky day! I'm one of those aforesaid, "service technicians" and have one for you. Yes, I do! The machine head itself is identical to what you require but the tuning button itself is a different shape. All you have to do is unscrew the button off the broken one and install it on this one (after removing this button) and the tuner will look like it just came from the factory. No drilling, cutting , hacking, etc.

Shoot me a PM and we'll work it all out.
