Pawn Shop Mustang is it I think. I hope I'm wrong. I have a '65 Mustang RI and just ordered a Pawn Shop Mustang Special. I think that these guitars are a step in the right direction. I for one, am sick of all the standard Classic Series and Road Worns.

Also I thought I would put my .02 of what I would like to see. I really think it would be cool to have a Blacktop Jaguar or Mustang BASS. I was looking in my Musician's Friend catalog and the Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar would like great in the Blacktop lineup with Fender quality.

You seem pretty keen to get a undesigned blacktop mustang.

why dont you get a normal mustang, replace the pickups with humbuckers etc. those strpes look good

mustangs for student models are way too expensive for my budget... i just thought that this would be a pretty good way to get a least expensive mustang model (not to mention there aren't many mustang models on the fender catalog) i just went with the stripes cause i feel it mixes with the whole blacktop garage rock vibe the series has going on but it would be a pretty expensive project... i wouldn't mind if they made a squier version of these either considering they were once student models i think it would be a good way to sell them...

I have the MG69-Beck Competition orange mustang. I dig it.

Also, there is literally no #$@*&!% reason for a Blacktop mustang. It' not #$@*&!% happening.

$700 isn't a budget model but it sure as hell isn't a custom shop instrument.... hell I'm 14 and to get that I'd save a bit, sell the current least played guitar (assuming I don't particularly care for it) or a few pedals I don't use (I have a couple no longer in use ATM), and then maybe have to save a bit more/get a loan from a parental unit.

So considering the blacktops are around $700, pawn shop guitars retail for $700-$900 from what I've heard, you're basically complaining about a name change.
