I also love jaguar/jazzmasters though i don't have any quite yet. I'm looking to add a jaguar baritone custom and jazzmaster to my collection at some point.

I'd like to try one again (and perhaps end up owning one).

I say again, because I must have tried one sometime, some place.
I have a memory of looking real close up at the "metal combs" on the sides of the pickups. I was holding like you would to play one. But for the life of me I can't say whose guitar it was.

Man ....

Oh yeah the jaguar is my favorite guitar. Ever since I started playing I always wanted one. I'd see bands like nirvana and sonic youth playing them all the time on tv. I got a HH jaguar which is pretty cool. The neck is pretty sweet on that guitar. I've never seen any other jaguars except the vintage ones they have at the guitar center in hollywood and online.

Why so few? Just kidding...I feel the same way! I can't think of a guitar I'd trade for mine. I love Surf, but it's so much more than a surf guitar...I look at it like it can handle anything you want to play! Glad there are other diehards out there!

+1

definetely the most beautiful guitar i have ever laid eyes upon.

i have an oly white AVRI that i got for FREE through a sweepstakes with musiciansfriend...

nothing sounds better for surf, but i do agree it does sound better for other things, but with the fender reverb is where it really sings

I'm in the process of modding my jag, actually.

im putting a series/parallel switch in place of the useless bass cut switch, and am making the bypass switch on top so that it doesn't bypass the pickup controls, so that i can use the 50K pot with all the pickup combinations instead of just the neck.

oh, and i upgraded to better' stiffer pots, as i've had problems with accidentally bumping the volume knob and it slipping, causing a sudden loss of volume...that isnt good in live situations...

I too love the Jaguar. I just recently bought a 1965 Sunburst in good condition for a steal. The playability (is that a word) and action on it is incredible. I used to have a 65 Jazzmaster Sunburst. That one was stolen.

People sometimes forget that back in the day, the Stratacaster was not the top of the Fender line. In 63-67 or so, the Jaguar was the top of heap, and the Jazzmaster was it's brother. The Strat was really considered a middle of the road guitar in the Fender line. For that reason, the Jag has always had a special place with me. Back then, I aspired to someday to be able to afford that beautiful sumburst Jag. It may be nostalgia, but I still think it's the best most versatile guitar in the Fender line.
