Look at the Takamine G Drednought EG 345C. MF has it in your price range, played one today and was impressed with the features/price/sound.

Also check out Ovation. They play like electric guitars!

I had a Yamaha APX 12 for a few years. AS long as you get an eq to boost the bass a bit(the body is really thin) it is great wee guitar. I used mine with a 'Big Bottom Aural Exciter' when I played live. I gigged it with just me and another guy on acoustic and it held up great next to his Lakewood!!

I don't know if the CPX range do a 12 string or if that is in your budget.

I now use a Freshman 6 and 12 string. They are expensive over here due to the exchange rate but I don't know how they are priced Stateside. FReshman is a lovely brand. Not as keen on the dreadnoughts but the Grand COncert and Grand Auditorium are lovely guitars.

Another vote for Ovation. My Standard Balladeer's action is like an electric 12... and it just rings. Try one, you'll be surprized.

I tried a Guild 12 string at GC a while back, played pretty well but pretty expensive too. Also picked up a cheaper Washburn D10 and I was pleasantly surprised.
