Hi, I've had my MIJ Jaguar for about five years now (not sure if that is relevant, but worth mentioning). It's always been ok, but in the last few weeks I've noticed that it has developed a buzz, which I think is coming from the bridge. I damaged some ligaments in my wrist and wasn't able to play for several weeks, but since I've picked it up again the sound is noticeable. The strings need changing, but I'm presuming that wouldn't be enough to cause the bridge to buzz. I know there are posts/articles all over the place about the Jaguar bridge, but as I've never had this problem before I was hoping that getting it set up again might fix the problem? Shamefully that's not something I'm able to do myself, but would that be what anyone reading this would recommend? I'd be really grateful for any advice.

Wow, im surprised no one's replied on this one yet..
I heard from other forums that the bridges on jaguar/jazzmaster are notorious for having their bridge adjustment screws loosen over time, causing buzzing. The fix that I have read it to either replace the bridge, or use a screw locking glue (they are fairly permanent glues.. good luck adjusting them after). what I've read is that pretty much any screw locking glue from your hardware store will work tho "loctite" is a fairly common brand that comes up...
the buzz could also be coming from you trem, the locking button can buzz if its not just perfectly snug when engaged...

Hope this helps!!

howdy there, I have a '94 japanese jazzmaster that has a similar issue. my buzz is coming from the high E saddle. I am to understand this is an issue that that type of bridge has. there is a "BUZZ STOP" system that fits under the bridge and put some extra pressure inbetween the trem plate and bridge, and hear this may help. as for the screws on the saddles backing out, yes and it's a nightmare. a little lock-tight would help. as for the lock button, that should be snug when you tune to pitch, it helps stabalize the bridge in case of alternate tunings or a string break mid-song. as far as my buzz goes, it is only audable on the guitar, and does not bleed through my amp. good luck buddy
