Im not sure but I think they are a different size that normal humbuckers.. I dont want to reroute my guitar. I just need a great subsitute for these!!!

Welcome.

From what I've seen, the Dragster pickups appear to have all the usual, full sized humbucker pickup dimensions. Therefore, you now have many, many models to choose from.

As far as suggestions, you haven't listed your tastes in music but even if you did, you'll get so many different responses that you'll be no further ahead. Ultimately, the decision starts and ends with you. I'd avoid the bulk of the imported stuff if I were you though.

Okay, a quick taste in my music then. To get a better idead of what upgrade I should have.

Red Hot Chili Peppers
Cream
Blue Oyster Cult
Hendrix
Primus

Any suggestions now??
And thanks for that. I wasnt sure on the size.
And why stay clear of the MIJ's?? I find their craftmansship to be so much better than most of the US ones. I got two MIJ's one with upgraded american pickups! I really want to change the Jaguar to something american though! (Does this this help in the quest for great pickups?)

You're welcome.

Well, I'm an old geezer but three out of five of your musical tastes, I can definitely help you with. Namely, Cream, Hendrix and BOC. This is an easy one as all three used the OEM HBs their Gibsons came with. Remember, aftermarket pickups hadn't come out yet. They used two types in particular: Gibson PAFs HBs and Gibson HBs now known as "T Tops". The closest you'll get to them are the Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers, Pearly Gates and 59s. Go to the Duncan website and listen to their sound bytes for these pickups which would help you zero in on which one(s) would serve you best.

Of note: As aftermarket pickups came out and IIRC, BOC switched to DiMarzio Super Distortions but is currently using EMGs. Which EMGs in particular, I don't know.

I readily agree, Fender Japanese guitar craftsman ship is excellent. I'm referring specifically to pickups when I say, "imported". The quality of the components are NOT as good and the potting is usually not totally solid. Further, none of them that I've ever heard have the tonality of your aforementioned requirements. Besides, you'll automatically run into phasing problems if you do pair them with American made stuff.

Yes, same as the pickups, the Japanese electronics leave a bit to be desired.

Original model pickups go for multiple thousands of dollars each. Obviously, they are in a league unto themselves vs. reissues.

There are MANY "high end" pickup manufacturers out there besides Duncan and DiMarzio. I singled these two out because they are among the least expensive and most readily available/recognizable of the genre.

Fender and Gibson will not make a custom pickup for you. As a matter of fact, neither will DiMarzio; only Duncan will. Last I've heard, Duncan wants $160 a pop plus shipping and you get to wait 6 weeks for it.
