Tonight, I see the discount price of the Blacktops at all the on-line dealers, Sam Ash, Guitar World, Musician's Friend, just jumped from $449.99 to $499.99. The last, MF, still has both prices listed!

What is up with that? How did they just get $50. more expensive to make and sell?

my guess is the world economy (japan really did a number on that) or i guess it was just a marketing strategy to sell them cheaper when they hit the market and little by little make them more expensive without no one noticing

Can you get it shipped from a US dealer for less than £138? That's the price difference between $500 and £450.

Nope.......unless a dealer wants to put on the packaging it's a gift worth less than $40 customs takes care of any differences allowing for postage. ALso over here it depends which carrier picks it up in the UK apparently. Both run by the Royal Mail but one charges through the nose for customs whilst the other is a flat rate of £8.
I bought a Mighty Mite neck for $50 with $10 postage but $60 customs cos the 'other' carrier picked it up........go figure

Just in case 'they' are watching I know that lying on your postal form for customs is an offence............

I hope that 50 dollars includes some extra quality control - They put the bridge saddles in backwards on my Blacktop Jag - the intonation screws were facing the pickups but the saddles were cut from deepest on the 1st string to shallow on the 6th. I just turned the bridge around but really somebody should have checked that. I have the silver one but look at the pic on the website for the black one. The adjuster screws are facing the tailpiece - what's going on ?

Time for a vacation in the USA, like Florida...and bring home your guitar with you.
