To be clear; I love Fender. I really do.

But...

Those pawn shop guitars look like the result of brothers and sisters having babies. I think they look awful; almost like someone doing inventory found a cache of un-used parts and stuck'em all together. They should be finished off by putting a bolt on each side of it's neck and calling it the Fender Frankenstein!

If that is your thing, then great! I'm sure the quality is certainly there and better than most other guitars; but man....are they ugly!

Pawn Shop series would be really great if they were priced more reasonable! $800 is serious money to many folks......and when you can score USA built axes for this price....why mess with an import? I don't doubt they are high quality guitars, but GEEZ!!!! That new Mustang and the '51 appeal to me quite a bit. Too bad I will not spend the money on these :( Really.....what makes the blacktop series so affordable and this series priced at the top of the Mexican food chain?

I for one like them, especially the '72. I am curious to see the street price for these.

Price is too much. They should just include the Mustang in the Blacktop Series and add finishes to all of the guitars. I'll keep praying.

that's what i thought lol the guitars are cool though i just hope they don't continue the whole offset mustang body deal... i don't know why but fender has been doing really strange stuff on guitars lately especially on the squier brand the jaguar bass and the jazzmaster guitar are examples...

how much are they?? the price isn't showing on my computer. judging by your responses, there not cheap. well, aren't they supposed to be "pawn shop" guitars?

i reckon the mustang special look's great, its good that they released another mustang, with humbuckers. the other 2, meh, look a bit weird for my likings.

58super suggested that the Lead, Bronco and Musicmaster models can also be added to the Pawnshop series. He forgot to mention the Duosonic, Tornado and Cyclone.

Here's the Pawnshop Mustang:

The Fender '72 is pretty cool but the other two are useless.

I talked to somebody at Musicians Friend and was told that they are made in Japan. I think the price is about on line with a lot of other Japanese Fender's and maybe even a little less than most of them. Like the Mustang myself, especially since you have the 3 way slider switches for selecting rear coil, both for humbucking or just the front coil. Should be highly versatile. A lot of guy's wont like these becasue they are not traditional, but the way I look at it is if you can have seemingly a hundred variations of a Strat And Tele, why not two of a Mustang, and besides, the worst aspects of a standard Mustang in so far as Rock playing is concerned, lies with the pickups and Trem and maybe the vintage frets, so this is great addition IMHO, and as far as the offset body...all Mustangs have offset body's, not just these.

Why not releasing a pawnshop JagStang with competition racing stripes, a Filtertron humbucker in the bridge and a Hilotron single-coil at the neck? A Nirvana-inspired guitar with a hint of Gretsch flavours on it.
