Just buy a used Mustang and drop some new pups in it if it's THAT big of an issue.... Hell, you could even wait for the pawn shop guitars to start showing up on ebay.

seriously like i've stated before......why not just get a blacktop jaguar and put racing stripes on it or something? a blacktop jaguar and a mustang would be excatly the same.

Well I suppose they could keep the god-awful Mustang trem on the Blacktop model... but that's not really something one would want so..... :?

Hell, the only reason I've left the original on mine is that i like the way it looks and I'm too damn lazy to replace the bastard

yeah but some people do prefer the mustang over the jaguar plus all the reasons posted on the first post... plus this guitar was really embraced by the 90's rock scene it would be an awesome guitar to be embraced into the blacktop series cause the biggest mod guitarrists would do to these guitars was installing a bridge humbucker

1) Ok? Your point being....?

2) Then just pick one up used and do that or get the Blacktop Jaguar since it would literally be EXACTLY the same other than the shape.

1) my point is that there are 2 mustang models in the whole fender catalog, putting in a blacktop model would not be a bad idea because it could make a good recreation of the modded mustangs from the 90's, the blacktop series is a more economic series from fender and embraced by many this would be a good way to bring the fender mustang back to its "economic guitar" days (remember this is a student model, and both mustang models cost about 1000 dollars)

2)i'll quote myself "the blacktop series is a more economic series from fender and embraced by many this would be a good way to bring the fender mustang back to its "economic guitar" days (remember this is a student model, and both mustang models cost about 1000 dollars)" and as a response to the jaguar deal i quote myself yet again "yeah but some people do prefer the mustang over the jaguar"

the bottom line is this is an awesome way to get an economic mustang

And my point is that there are numerous more feasible options for you than Fender adding another guitar that barely anybody would f***ing buy to the line.

It's a student model, but that student model cost the equivalent of over a thousand #$@*&!% dollars.

ok guys this may sound stupid but i decided to start a movement for fender to make a blacktop mustang (before i continue to speak of this i would like to thank chromeface for having the original blacktop mustang idea... at least i think it was him) this seems like an idea that is attracting most of you and i think that if we comunicate this idea the most possible in this forum i believe fender will hear us... here are the reasons for fender to make this guitar:

-the only mustang model fender has has a retail price of 1,199.99$;

Well it was suppost to be a student guitar but more ppl got intrested so know its more like grown up

Yes! a new Blacktop Mustang guitar is what I am looking foward to. I have the Strat Blacktop FloydRose and it's one of the best so far. Pickups are better than the others. Had a Blacktop Jaguar, but the pickups were horrible and thin Ice picky. So I would love to see a Mustang Blacktop alone the lines of Kurt Cobains.
Of course they would not include the Duncan JB, but the bridge humbucker on the Blacktop floyd rose would be fine.
Hum in bridge and Mustang single in neck and stock switches, here is a Pick of what I am wishing for. Who agrees? These would sell like hotcakes!!!

I think that it should look something like this: http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16127&start=0 That's a copy of the Kurt Cobain Ferrington Mustang, one he had designed for him. Maybe with a Jack on the side instead of the front, and maybe in darker colors to make it fit more into the Blacktop series. I support the idea of having a fender mustang with the fender name that is not overly expensive. Here is a picture of him holding the original, one of very few pictures: http://www.kurtsequipment.com/pictures/ferring.jpg

If anyone in this thread here actually thinks a Jag and a Mustang are exactly the same im thinking that just throws your opinions out the window because you obviously have no idea what your talking about.

I for one think a Black Top Mustang would be a fantastic idea, fits in with the economic philosophy along with providing a well crafted instrument that is good enough to use with Stock or still reasonably priced so us guitarists who enjoy upgrading or modding the guitar wouldn't have a second thought.

Personally, me thinks the problem lays with Fenders marketing teams. Fender is a old mans company that targets old men.

Now Arguable its old men who keep Fender in business but fender has dropped the ball time and time again with its marketing towards the younger audience and just seems to be dare I say……."NOT WITH IT"

Its like the Abe Simpson line - "I used to be with it, but they changed what it was, now what im with isn't it, and what is? Is weird and scary to me…………and it will happen to you".

A very easy example -

Yes the recent Signature Cobain Models -
The Replica Jag for $1819.99?
The Mustang for $1399.99?

This is a pure example that Fender has no concept or perhaps I should say doesn't give a sh*t of an entire generation and its musical identity.

An Argument COULD be made for the rep Jag as a collectors item, and I am curious to know how much Courtney love might be involved with a jacked up sales tag?. I don’t know if the rights she had recently sold off contained guitar rights or not.

Even the Pawn shop attempt? ………...Pawn Shop $1079.99?...................no way

At the very least the Mustang should have been included in the black top series, it’s a smaller, faster and much better bridge option to the jag's. Especially If Fender had intended the black Top series to be a introductory level for people.

However if Fender had REALLY wanted to ender themselves to the 90's generation a Black Top JAG-STANG reissue would have been ideal, and would have fit in perfectly with the Cobain mantra.

I owns a 65 reissue mustang, a Black top JazzMaster, just picked up a Black Top Strat for my son and a black Top Tele in terms to this thread. I own a lot more other guitars as well but I wouldn’t hesitate at picking up a black top mustang and would be frothing at the mouth if it were a Jag Stang!
