ok guys this may sound stupid but i decided to start a movement for fender to make a blacktop mustang (before i continue to speak of this i would like to thank chromeface for having the original blacktop mustang idea... at least i think it was him) this seems like an idea that is attracting most of you and i think that if we comunicate this idea the most possible in this forum i believe fender will hear us... here are the reasons for fender to make this guitar:

- the blacktop series has been very well embraced by guitarrists around the world and is considered one of the best ways to get an affordable good sounding fender guitar;

-there is only one mustang model currently in the whole fender catalog;

-the only mustang model fender has has a retail price of 1,199.99$;

-the fender mustang is considered a "student model" so why cost so much? ;

so what do you guys say? want to start the movement?

I like very much a BlackTop Mustang with three SD Minis and a 3-way toggle switch like Thurston Moore's heavily modified '69, either in black with white racing stripes, 3-ply black pickguard and a maple fingerboard with black blocks or fiesta red with black racing stripes, 4-ply pearloid shell pickguard and an ebony fingerboard.with abalone blocks.

A matching Blacktop Mustang Bass with a pair of SD Antiquity Jazz Bass pickups, a stacked knob '62 control layout and an HMV bridge looks cool. :)

Unfortunately the guitar builder doesn't allow users to chose any other shapes than the Strat. Also the options are very limited.

Hell's Yeah! I want one too! sonic blue with brown shell pickguard, Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and a mustang single coil in the neck, and a tune-o-matic bridge instead of the vintage like Kurt's

I would like to see a blacktop mustang. I could see two model

a white mustang with a black racing stripe with either a HS or HH

and a black mustang with a white racing stripe which is either SH or HH

(maybe there could be a three humbucker mustang)

I'd keep the on/off switches so you can have it in/out of phase--and a coil split or series/parallel option.

But, go with one of the humbucker options

ok guys i got some news... it's not a blacktop mustang but it's a start and many of you might already know that fender came out with a new series of guitars known as the pawn shop series which includes an hh (with wide range humbuckers) mustang... now the bad news is that it isn't an affordable model... and it is also one reason less for them to make the blacktop mustang since there is no longer only one mustang model but i think that the movement should continue until fender makes a mustang guitar that reaches our goal (a more affordable fender mustang which is perferably a blacktop)

keep on believing guys

If you want affordable then maybe squier should pick it up and how about a mustang elenor? Yellow with black stripes just like the ones on elenor in gone in 60 seconds (not the garbage remake)

it feels better to have a guitar that says "fender" on the headstock if your a fender enthusiast though....
