Hey all you fine fingered guitarist out there,
As most of us know with experience and time grows our ear for sound quality and tone, and as my ear as grown I've noticed how unbearable the lead pickup on my classic player jazzmaster is. I'm playing through a black face twin reverb which is suppose to really bring out the high end as it is, and combined with the 1k pots it's just too much. While playing a strat as my local guitar shop it had a sweet lovely tone that I was missing out on, so I mentioned it to an employee and he said mexican made pickups are not the best. So I've researched for hours and hours and narrowed it down to Lollar's, everyone says you can't go wrong with either novak's or lollar's, I'm in washington where Lollars are made so why not? But here is where I need you jazzmaster lovers input. I don't play for the typical jazzmaster sound, I'm more of a Hendrix style of wildness with a big muff with wicker so it's a little more distortiony than fuzz. I still enjoy and utilize a nice clean tone, Lollar makes the jazzmaster style pickup and then a P-90 pickup for the jazzmaster, and I'm having a terrible time knowing which way to go on this? I've spent hours researching this and would really appreciate any input.
Thanks,
Scotty
