Hello all,

Does anyone have advice on where I could send my Jaguar to be restored? The guitar is currently in Indianapolis, I am in Alaska. I honestly can't recall all that is wrong with it, but it is in fair condition. Lake Placid Blue, with some wear and scuffing. Thanks in advance.

DO NOT refinish (it hurts the value) or replace any electronics that still work. If we knew what's wrong with it it might help...

Thanks everyone,

I won't touch the finish, some others have told me that too. Seems all the electronics worked but might have had some contact/cleaning issues. I am going to have some family bring it over to IRC in Indianapolis to have it looked over. I'll tell them not to do anything without calling me first. Appreciate the help. If anyone knows of a better shop in the area please let me know.

As the others have so emphatically stated don't touch the finish or hardware either for that matter-to do sowould send the value plummeting faster than a freefalling sumo wrestler.Just keep any refurbishing to an absolute bare minimum, don't replace anything unless absolutely neccessary.I have a '65 Jag and she could be prettier than she is but I'd never dream of defacing her by trying to"improve"her. You have a jewel of a guitar lots of luck finding the right place to work on her but if I may suggest for absolute flawless work and dedication to keeping your guitar as original as possible try here: http://www.gruhn.com .

Other than a good cleaning, I would leave the finish alone! As for the hardware, if it is missing pieces or rusted beyond reasonable usefulness, it won't do even a collector any good. I would replace any hardware that just absolutely can not be salvaged, just so it would be a playable guitar. :D
