Well, sometime within the next week or so we should see some pics? AND a smiling "Southern Boy". As with all amps, give the speakers a little time to break in before you make up your mind one way or the other.

Don't know about the pics. Is that a prerequisite?

Good point on the speaker. I'm not going to make any snap judgments, or decisions based upon impatience or such. Just like any guitar, there is a period where the instrument and user have to "marry" in order to make any progress. Some do this much better than others (kinda like people, eh?). As for the amp speaker, I hadn't thought about any breakin period for that... does make some sense.

While the Classic Player Jag comes with a gig bag, I am much more partial to Fender's hardshell cases. My '64 Jaguar came with a blond hardshell case and wine colored interior (of course, it was priced separately; $75 in 1964).

I was pretty certain which guitars I was going to consider and by the time I joined this site, I had two in mind: the Jazzmaster and the Jaguar. I did agonize some over these two fine items but in the end, it was the scale length and I admit, my bias for the Jag since I had once owned an original. This by no means is to say the Jazzmaster was "beat" in the classic vernacular because it was not. But was I in for a surprise when it cam to amps.

Man, the whole world has changed with those bad boys. S-O-O-O-O many things to consider, options to weigh, and questions to get answered. I still don't know if the amp I ordered was the best way to go for the price, but it seemed to be a good choice. Guess I'll find out.

Not a prerequisite, but very much in demand. (they say guys are visual creatures)

Jaguars and Jazzmasters take the same case although there you may want to add a little "bumper" for your Jag (slightly shorter than the Jazz.) I think Black and Brown are the only colors available for the offset waist guitars now. Here's a link.

The Player comes with a "Deluxe" gig bag. Heavily padded. But the first thing I did was order the case as well.

Road Runner makes a Polyfoam Electric Guitar Case that's technically a soft case but effectively a hard case for all of $59.00! Can't do better than that!

My new Super Champ XD amp came in yesterday! And wouldn't you know it. When I got it home, unpacked, set up, and plugged my new Jaguar into it, there was first hum and then loud sharp static. So back to the store. It turned out to be a bad tube so the store owner replaced both 6V6 tubes with higher quality units until the Fender replacements get in.

This amp really does sound very good and makes the Jaguar sound even better. Lots of things to learn about the amp, but I have the time so this is going to be fun.

Are your fingers mad at you yet? I'm guessing by now the "tender tips" have begun to toughen up a bit. What was the outcome re: the tremlo arm spring? Curios forumite and
all that.
Cheers,

My fingers developed the requisite callouses several weeks back so their fine. And the action on the new Jaguar is very good with 10 gauge strings.

I ordered a dozen tremolo arm springs and they work exactly as expected and keep the arm from just hanging with no tension. I also use a 10x32x1" bolt (small screw??) to thread into the tremolo receptacle when the arm is removed so that the spring does not just fall out. Works like a champ.

Only problem now is the fact that even after eleven days, my guitar still strays off tune. I have to tune it several times when playing. I have chalked this up to new wood having to setting and probably not the best quality strings. I do have a set of GHS 10's ready to go on it but I want to hold off to see if the out-of-tune preference continues.

Could it be due to the tremolo springs being set too loose? They should be adjustable.

Yeah, it could be due to the tremolo springs, but I thought I would give it a little more time to see if it settles down. It is getting better. Tomorrow I will have had the Jaguar for two weeks. I have to say that this has really been both an experience and an eye opener for me. After having not played to any degree for nearly 46 years, I appreciate what I did know back then. What was then intuitive is now a dot connection exercise. But time is my friend and what the hey... I'm having fun with it.

Weird, I hard need to tune mine. But then, I have the "Trem-o-loc" in place most of the time.

Actually, I think there is only one BIG spring in that tremolo system.

I'm a newbie too. I played some many years ago, but only a bit. But I was more serious about other instruments. Then life got in the way. People said "Get an acoustic first". Nope. I can play my Strat while everyone's watching a movie, when everyone's asleep, whenever, because of the magic of headphones. So a couple of hours a day can be gotten in, pretty easily, and I don't even realize they are past.
