I'm in need of an amp. Nothing to fancy . I am considering these amps:
Superchamp XD
Frontman 65R
Mustang III

Eventually I'll collect and try out others, but which one is more convenient for now?
Use is for church .. small venues .. at home

I'm all for tube amps and the Super Champ is one of the coolest! It allows for warm tube tone coupled with different voicings you can play around with and you can cover a heck of a lot of styles of music.

The Frontman is completely solid-state and it is as straight forward as....well a guitar amp. Great cleans and a pretty good drive channel sound. This amp is great if you want a no frills, very loud amp.

The mustang III is for someone who wants EVERYTHING. If you like playing around with digital settings and don't mind taking the time to go through everything in it's memory bank then this is a great amp! As far as emulation goes, this is definitely one of the great, only really beat by the Fender Cyber twin. Well that's what I think anyways.

What I'm trying to say is that all of these are great amps and it depends what you want. Try all of them out with the guitar you already have. Try them at low volumes, loud volumes, clean, over driven, etc. and see what sounds best to YOU!

Happy playing!

I have one of the Mustang amps. It is very decent for the price, especially if you don't own any effects pedals or a multi-effects unit. But, if you want a very nice, REAL amplifier.....the Super Champ XD would be the way to go! As for the Frontman amps....they have nice clean sounds, but the distortion SUCKS, and sounds more like a "static" than a good, distinct CRUNCH. The frontman amps handle pedals well though, so with a few stomp boxes (one of which should be a good distortion pedal) it would serve you well. My vote is for the Super Champ!
