ok, I developed an issue with my 62' reissue jazz from Japan 1994, the high-E string will fret out when I bend 1 step or above between the 13th and 17th frets. any ideas on what to look for, or adjustment tips?

thanks,
bob-o

First....make sure that your bridge saddles have not worn to where the strings do not match the radius of the fretboard. Also check and see that you have the proper amount of relief in the neck, too little and too much can affect this. Other than that, make sure your frets are in good shape. It is a common complaint on the vintage 7.5" radius necks for bends to bottom out. If you learn to play with a slightly higher action then this won't be much of an issue. If you HAVE to keep your guitar set up like it's current state, the only option for you is you will have to either compound radius the frets (make the radius flatter nearing the body), or pull the frets out, compound radius the fretboard and fret it with new frets! I found playing with a straighter neck and slightly higher action helps more than anything (other than non-reversible modification to the fretboard)

You've got a small neck hump due to wood distortion. Have the frets leveled and it'll be as good as new.

J A P has been politically incorrect for some time now, except as an acronym for a certain type of princess...

UPDATE!!!

hazzah's all around, after a 1/16 turn on the truss to take out some relief and a minor increase in saddle height, I am happy to announce that I can now bend the high E string like crazy again.

There's soooo many things that are "politically incorrect" - I can't keep up with it all

I've got "stuff" from all over the world! Made in many different countries of the world! So, now days, I can't say what country the item was produced in !?!?!?

What a screwed up mess this old world is in!! :? :?

Oh ...BTW ... concerning the original question ... I'm glad you got it worked out. Jazzmasters are great guitars! 8)

oldfender, I couldn't agree more with you. Politically correct is retarded. I beleive it is just a way to make money by sueing someone who says something you don't like. I still remember the odl saying "sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me"

thanks for the congrats on me fixing my "$@!"anese jazzmaster.

rock and or roll dude

+1 offender.

In this opinion, political correctness is ALL about fear.

If y' got a pair and somebody says or calls y' something stupid, y' shrug and walk off thinking, "Ignorant afs-ho."
