Hi there

I'm new to the forum but have read it for ages now. Also am a big long term Fender fan/player.

I currently have a Jazzmaster. I love the feel of the guitar, just not the sound. I ordered a Clapton mid boost for one of my Strats but decided not to put it in. While it's sitting here I had a thought. My Jazzmaster feels like it has little output or at least the pickups are not as "hot" as I'd like. What if I put the Clapton boost into that?

Well that's not really the issue. The issue is can you have a switch to bypass the boost rather than relying on the tone to active the boost? Still have the tone to control the amount but a switch to turn off or bypass the boost mode?

I addition if this is possible could you use the switch normally used for the rhythm circuit as the on/off and just remove the rhythm circuit altogether? Or even use an S-1 Switch as the on/off?

The whole idea of this hit me while playing my Sambora strat. That has a button for on/off boost and you still use the tone to control the amount of it.

So if anyone can help, diagrams would be a bonus.

Cheers.

Any wiring scheme you desire can be done on your guitar.....but it will be a complex one to say the least! You could just look for aftermarket pickups and not have to do so much work! I don't think any Jazzmaster will come stock with hot enough pickups for you. But that's just what the guitar is. :)

I have and SJM-3 for the bridge & SJM-2 for the neck but don't wanna install them. I know what you're saying though.

I may just sell the guitar and buy something else. Just thought hot rodding it so to speak might give it that edge without losing the jazzmaster nature in sound.

Nice. I like the idea of having the humbucker styled like a JM pickup. Might be just what I'm after. Thanks.
