Hello all,

My name is John and I am from Oklahoma. My dad and I have been cleaning out a house that was given to him in a will. Pretty much everything in there is a step back in time. While cleaning out the attic we came accross this guitar. I have been looking online at pics and I think this is a Fender from 1962. The serial number is 74533 and it is in a Bulwin case(the sticker is of a crocodile). However, the top is not marked or stamped Fender. Also, this doesn't seem like the standard length of a regular guitar. I guess my questions would be the following: Is it a Fender from 1962? If so, what kind is it? Any descent value in something like this? If it is not a Fender then what is it? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance! My e-mail is johnphiggins@aol.com if you have any questions. Here are the pics:

You have an early 1960's Musicmaster or Duo Sonic. Someone has painted it, and that will affect the value some. These were made as student models but were of very high quality.

Your guitar is most definitely a Dou-Sonic as the Musicmaster and Bronco had single pickups.Your serial number is from 1962 however with the refinishing the value of the guitar has been just about cut in half.A '62 Duo-Sonic in mint condition would be worth about $1300 however the value of yours would be about half with the current refinish job.The guitar was originally sunburst. It is a lovely guitar and despite the refinish appears to be in good shape and Duo-Sonics were great playing guitars due to their short-scale necks and the single coil pickups gave them a Strat like tone at a much lower price.
