Hello everyone,
I recently bought a Blacktop Jaguar, the silver one. I really don’t care for the chrome cavity cover that is on the guitar. So I was thinking of having a piece made to replace it.
But my concern is that that chrome cover has something to do with the grounding of the guitar. I’m new at understanding how a guitar is wired, but when I took the cover off there was no ground wire attached to the input jack. There was only a white wire that was coming from the volume pot. So i’m afraid i’m wasting my time having a special piece made to replace the chrome piece that came on the guitar. So the question is, does the chrome cavity cover have anything to do with grounding the Blacktop Jaguar HH?
Thanks in advance.

That one is a new animal. Fender Customer Service can be reached by phone and email and will gladly provide a PDF of your Blacktop's wiring diagram. At least they did for my Classic Player (which is different than the 62 RI)

I believe the email address I used was consumerrelations@fender.com
