Hi all

New here - wanted to inquire with some guitar-wise people about the value on two rough Fender guitars I'm considering trading some drums for:

1. 1994 MIJ Fender Jazzmaster

Obviously beat up, works in one of the 2 positions on the selector switch, neck looks to be warped (heavy back bow - not sure if it's supposed to be that way), haven't tried to adjust truss yet - but a straight USA Strat neck is included as well to get it working

2. USA 3/4 Acoustic

It's also obviously a bit rough, neck is straight and it appears to only need the nut fixed in order to be strung up and played.

Just want to know if you think these have any value to people who fix guitars, or are they too far gone and pretty much worthless?

I was gonna resell them and use the cash to buy a working guitar, I just don't want to agree to a trade and end up with junk that no one wants.

If the Jazzmaster's electronics are fixable and the neck is a proper Jazzmaster neck it should be worth fixing up,if not give it a miss. The acoustic may be alright if fixed up since as you say it basically just needs a nut.I'm not convinced that it's a bona fide Fender as all the hardware seems to be of lesser quality.

As long as the Jazzmaster's neck isn't twisted or back-bowed it is quite valuable. Maybe in the neighborhood of $700 +/-. The acoustic is NOT a Fender, but appears to be a Harmony with a Fender logo applied. The acoustic is indeed old, like from the 1950's. It won't be worth as much as the Jazzmaster, but will make a cool conversation piece when fixed up and playable! :)

The whole guitar is a legitimate MIJ Jazzmaster, the original neck appears to be bowed back though.

The extra, unmounted straight neck he's going to include is from a USA Stratocaster.

You're wrong!

And right! :)
I did some searching and found this. It is a Fender, however it was built by Harmony:

I should've remembered about Harmony building guitars for Fender back in the 50s to early 60s-I'm kicking myself for forgetting that one.RE the Strat neck on the Jazzmaster,I'm not sure if they are compatable as far as neck pocket size and shape goes or if some Jazzmasters were shortscale like the Jaguar and Mustang in that case they woudn't fit.

Thanks for the warning - we're gonna pull the neck off tonight and see what's up.

Here's a little more info I found about Harmony - Guess if you had the cash for 150 guitars, you could have your own brand!
