I said pretty much the same thing, so I certainly have to agree.

Except I think it's a better vibrato than most people give it credit for
And I use the word vibrato, because the tailpiece on my Mustang does.

Zontar, thanks for the reply. After reading a ton of other articles and article snippets (some of only related to the Mustang by tangent) I came to that conclusion.

My Mustang bridge came missing two of the saddle-adjustment screws. Also, the four that I do have are Phillips head. I'm hoping I can find six Allen screws so I can fix the intonation and not have to buy a new bridge.

Perhaps if it goes out of tune one way you need to adjust it, it may have too little or too much tension on it.

You can pick up an entire bridge http://angela.com/fendermustangvintagereissuebridge.aspx or keep shopping around for the screws.

I don't use the vibrato, so I just blocked mine. Seems to have better resonance and sustain now too. 8)

I want more sustain, I'll play one of my other guitars that has more, I love the Mustang tone for what it is--so I'll use it for some stuff, and other guitars for other stuff.

I guess it's all in what you're into.

I don't use the vibrato much, but when I do, it's mostly subtle with the heel of my hand on the tailpiece.
