So why did fender ever discontinue the Coronado? I have one and I like it better than any other guitar I ever tried. I keep looking for information on the discontinuation reason and all I come up with is 1970's. Anyway I just wanted to hear some other peoples feedback. Also I'd like to hear what other people think of the Coronado (I, II, XII, and bass). I just wanna start off with my personal opinion, that if fender brought back the Coronado in the old style, I would buy a new one.

When a product does not sell, the company making it cuts its losses and puts it out to pasture.

For whatever reason, the Coronado was a loozer. Period, end of story.

And it's unlikely that FMIC will resume production of it just to sell a handful of guitars and lose $$$ (again) on every one -- not in this economic climate.

Sounded nice but no match for a Gibson or a Guild

Although it's very unlikely to happen unless some "star" like Justa Beaver l(lol) plays one and creates a new demand for them.I'd love to see the Coronado reissued as it was just beautiful especially with the Wildwood finish.BTW check out Alain's www.guitarmotel.com he has a mint Wildwood in his collection that's absolutely stunning.

If Fender would start making more guitars like Coronado, they could become as good as Gretsch. XD

Interesting twist on the thin-line hollowbody double-cutaway. IMO one Hard-to-sell feature--the bolt on neck. I read they had DeArmond pickups.
