About to go look at a Left 1995 Mustang..owner says it's made in America but I can't find info online whether they even made those in the USA at that time.

I don't have the serial number, and i'll be finding out the truth in about 2 hours by looking at it...but trying to save myself a trip in case the seller is not telling the truth

Frankly I'm doubtful, but I've been proven wrong on many occasions.

If it turns out to be MIJ/CIJ, be advised they build two lines of Mustangs there -- one with a basswood body, the other of poplar (which the original '60s models were).

Don't pre-judge.

The MIJ/CIJ guitars are fine instruments in their own right.

Give it a look-see, then decide.

what do you think about the price of $685 for it (lefty 95 mustang) ? I've never been a huge fan of the smaller scale of the mustang but I LOVE the look of it

As far as I know there haven't been USA-made Mustangs since about 1980 or so - when Fender discontinued everything but the Stratocaster, "The Strat", Telecaster, Lead I, and Lead II. They added the first Bullet series and the Lead III in 1981.

Seems reasonable -- even more so if a HSC is included.

fender discontinued the mustang in 1982 but because many artist were playing these vintage guitars they reissued them in the 1990s but the Reissues are made in Japan
