I have an old guitar that my dad bought for me when I was a teenager. I used to love playing it, I have been trying to determine the make. it "looks" just like a later issue mustang, with out those pesky things like Fender logos, or serial numbers.. ect... so I think it may be a knockoff, but really Im clueless. the similarities include everything, onthe outside, except markings. internally, the pick up hollow is one large area, rather than the seperate small ones. also the tuning nobs are gears, not the f tuners. I will see if it will let me post some pics to see if anyone is able to give me any clues about it. thanks, mark
Im not sure how to post pics on here, I will go to the forum topic that says pics and see if it lets me post them there.

I have a few others, like undoubtedly many of us.
I never was anything special, but I havent played seriously for years now.. seems that when marrige and the kids came, I quit making time for jamming. I am hoping to get better about that. I played for a couple of hrs this morning.. man have my fingers gone soft, plus, I cant remember half of the little bit I used to know. hopefully it will come back to me, along with the skin on my fingers.. anyhow, here are the other two I have. I havent played the yellow one in probably 10 years. the takamine I got when I was in the navy in about 91? 92.. anyways, it was a good friend while I was on cruise and I have played the sh** out of it over the years.
the strat is nothing special as strats go, relatively cheap mexican model I got in about 96. but it is a fender, and it plays very well.
lately Ive been lusting for one of the new gretsch's they started making again. there are several silimlar, gibson, washburn, epiphone, and ibanez all make similar hollow body designs. I played them all yesterday. I found that the ibanez produced the most sound unplugged, it has larger f holes. but nothing played like the gretsch.. wow.. markie want one...

looks a lot like my budys dads 64 mustang but the trus rod is different
the pick gaurd does look a lot like it also. but the bottom cut away is not that of a mustang. more than likely it is a aftermarket guitar.. the finish on the head stock makes me think the neck has been changed also.
could be a sears or a harmony.. ?? and yes sears did sale guitars for a short while.. my cousin had one yeeeaaarrss ago. and also if it was a mustang the stripe would be a wide stripe.. the wiring does also look vintage as do the pick ups.. personly if i was you.. i would string it and play it..!! it is a very cool guitar man.. enjoy it..
rock on....

From looking at the photo, the extra fret near the neck (sometimes called the zero fret), as well as the truss rod that sticks out, are both a common feature of necks on 1960's Teisco guitars. Teisco was a Japanese company whose products were exported under a dozen names. The bodies were usually mahogany or plywood. So it might be a Teisco.

Based upon the neck (assuming that it's the guitar's original neck) I suspect this guitar was made by Harmony.
