Hey guys, i had a question about my guitar, it's not a Fender Jazzmaster... but rather a knock off from the seventies that i was able to get my hands on... it sounds great and is really unique but it does have some problems. Sorry to come to the fender forum for a knockoff, but i didn't know where else to turn!

1.) The neck is kinda... well old, only one dead spot but it seems as if it bends depending on the weather. So the intonation is off some days.

2.) I lost the saddle piece? ( is that what you call it?) its the piece after the string slot and is not attached to the floating bridge but is located on the body before pickup #3 ( oh yeah this baby has three singles)

3.) The pickup selector is shorted so access to pickup #3 is non existent. To make matters worse the selector fits in a special plate, and i've never seen switches like those.

My problem is that i'm seventeen and i only have $50 bucks right now, do you guys know anyway's i can fix these problems on that budget?!?

All suggestions are greatly appreciated guy's and gal's, thanks!

Have you checked on Ebay for possible replacement parts?

These knock-off instruments, and occasionally their parts, come up for auction periodically.

It's possible you might score a bridge and/or a pickup switch that way.

As for the neck, it sounds like it lacks a trussrod to keep it in true. If that's the case, you'll have to learn to live with its idiosyncracies.

If you can post a pic or two, other forum members may have some helpful tips.

Hard to tell from that pic but those rocker switches look exactly like the type used on my first guitar, a Teisco Del Ray. I think those were pretty common among the imports of the early '60s. I'd say the odds are good that you may find a replacement.

Teisco (actually "Tokyo Electric InStrument COmpany") was only one of a number of Japan-based manufacturers "back in the day". It could also be a Decca, Kingston, Guyatone, or other brand.
