Hi, I'm looking to pick up a Jaguar in the next few days...

Can someone please explain the tonal / sound differences between the different Jag models Fender currently offers?

From the looks of it, there are 3 different types of pickups offered:

Hot Vintage Alnico
MIJ Dragster
Enforcer

I'm leaning towards purchasing the new Blacktop HH with the Vintage Alnico Humbuckers, but... please help steer me in the right direction...

Ultimately, I'm looking for something that gives me the closest sound to a Les Paul... I write a lot of pop / rock music and I already own a Standard American Strat, so I want something to compliment that.

Thanks!

I have always played fat Gibson necks since the late sixties and have always loved that sound of a Les Paul/...so i never owned a Fender guitar until I purchased an American Standard TELE back in 1992....wasn't the Les PAUL deluxe sound...but I couls all of a sudden after playing GIBSON LES PAULS ,FLYING V'S AND AN ES-339 i PICKED UP WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT,I COULD MOVE EFFORTLESSLY ON THAT THIN FLAT NECK....I WAS SOLD! SO I FOUND MAHOGANY STRATOCASTER THAT GUITAR CENTER HAD BUILT EXCLUSIVELY FOR THEM...IT WAS AN HSS....I WAS GETTING CLOSER TO THAT SOUND U WANT AND SO DO I OUT OF THE FENDER,SO I REPLACED THE HUMBUCKER WITH A LITTLE 59/DIMARZIO I BELIEVE MAKES IT AND WOW I HAVE THAT SOUND NOW FROM THE STRAT....ALSO I THING THE HEAVIER WOOD MAKES A LOT OF DIFFERENCE ALSO! :

Honestly, none of them sound like a Les Paul. The Dragsters on the Special are my fave of the lot though. they're #$@*&!% screamers.
