Hello all, I have scoured the web and got close but not the full info, so I'm hoping somebody here might be able to help.

I borrowed my friend's Jaguar for a while and I'm going to be playing live and recording some Nirvana covers, so I want to get the guitar sound as accurate as I can. It has two humbuckers fitted so it's pretty close to Cobain's.

What I want to know is about the switch settings. From what I've read, he had the top switch taped in the (down?) position so that only the bottom 3 switches were enabled. But then he had the bottom 3 switches replaced with a single 2 way switch, so I'm hoping to know what two combinations did he switch between?

Did he have the "Bass Cut" on or off?
Did he have both pickups enabled? Or did he have it set to just use the bridge pickup?
The bottom two way switch was taped down, so why did he even have a switch on there? Why not just set the 3 buttons to his preferred setting?

To me it sounds like he just used the bridge pickup and had the other one off, but from what I've read, they were both custom humbuckers so I can't imagine him getting the neck one replaced only to not use it.

Anyway, thanks in advance!

Yeah I find it sounds quite good with the bass cut on, and with the neck humbucker turned off, and the treble knob turned up. I had to crank the presence on my amp though or it was too bassy and didn't sound right. But it's sounding ok now.

If anyone knows his exact switch settings though, please let me know any time. Thanks.

his jags were pretty much les pauls... tune-o-matic bridges, hard tail, humbuckers (i believe he also quite like super distortions...), he used a regular switch as opposed to the jaguar switches etc
