Has anyone played this yet? The specs say "Duncan designed" pups. Are they cashing in on the Squier Jagmaster with a Fender name?

i don't know about that....all i know is that i want one, badly. might put a 57 classic in the bridge and swap the black cover out for a white, but man, they look awesome.

i've wanted a nice MIM jazzmaster for a while now, and it would be a backup anyways...i don't really like the feel of the CP, maybe this one will work better?? if it does, then i'll just modify the bridge with something later on down the line

I just looked at the specs for the Blacktop Jazzmaster: 9.5" radius and Adjusto-Matic bridge. These are exactly the same as on the Classic Player. I think the feel is going to be very similar. 8)

As far as I heard, actually the entire series are MIJ.
Can't wait to try them.

BT stuff is MIM, and the jazzmaster doesn't have an adjust-o-matic bridge, it's got a new combination of the jaguar/jazzmaster and mustang bridges. non-threaded saddles, with new side/side/up/down screws.

personally, i really want to smash around with that sunburst one. it's the $@!&.

I bought the Sunburst JM - immediately put a SD SH-5 in the Bridge, but it probably wasn't necessary. I also put a Switchcraft jack, and new pots in for both Volume and Tone controls- this WAS necessary - when you lowered Vol, the tone went dark and the original Tone control had no taper. Now I have a killer axe for about $200 more. I also bought the Fender JM case from MF. I really love the bridge on this and the snap-in trem arm - it's great for that old school sound. Thanks, Fender, for thinking of what your customers really want !!!! - Kevin from Rockvillle, MD

I just received my blacktop JM yesterday.

Do you guys know if the trem is specd like the classic players or vintage? I'm asking because I'd like to install a buzzstop, but you can't use them on the classic players because the trem has been moved closer to the bridge.

I'm having a lot of buzzing from the bridge saddles. I know another cure is locktighting the grub nuts.

Also, when I lower the bass string to where it should be and intonate it, it actually buzzes because it hits the front of the stupid intonation bolt protruding out of the saddle!! Is there a replacement bridge that deals with this nonsense?

I love the sound of the guitar (middle position is to die for), but I can't take the buzzing.

Also, the other poster is right about the tone control..it's basically worthless as it's either on or off.

I asked Fender and they said it is the same trem layout as the classic player, so buzzstop won't work.
