I've played bass for 5 years now, and want a bit of a change so I've decided to learn the acoustic guitar, but what starter acoustic guitar should I get? My budget is around $300.

Any feedback welcome, and thanks in advance

Epiphone makes some really nice acoustics under $300.Last year I picked up one for my sister for $180 with a gigbag and it sounded like a much more expensive guitar-great action, rich Gibson like tone and really loud.So for $300 you should get a superb one.

Agreed. Epiphone does make some nice acoustic guitars. If your looking Fender, I just bought a T-Bucket 400 CE Flametop and i love it. Great tone and great value. I started with a DG-8 s Acoustic pack. Not a great guitar, but the pack was fairly cheap and got me started off right.

CD 280 S and CD 280 SCE Look like good values to me. Correct me if i'm wrong. :)

You got that right,Fender makes some great acoustic and acoustic electric guitars,I have a Stratacoustic-it has a Strat neck so the action makes it an easy transition to acoustic from electric, the acoustic sound is a bit on the thin side but when amplified it sounds deadly and I believe they are in the $300 range.A guy I know picked one up in a pawnshop for $100.If you want a superb acoustic electric and are prepared to spend a bit more the Epi EJ-160-E John Lennon model is a fabulous guitar, acoustically it has the authentic slopeshouldered Gibson sound and through an amp you'd think that you were on stage with John and George-it's that close to the original. I paid $575 Cdn for my EJ-160-E.

epiphones are good. They are owned by gibson and make cheaper gibson models (aj-45, dove, humming bird). Most are made in indonesia and they are very good quality.

Seagulls are pretty good. I own a seagull grand they are a small body guitar but they pack a pretty good punch and they age and improve over time. I put a fishman pick up in their and it can compare in quality and sound to most dreadnoughts.

Seagull entourage are dreadnoughts and are about 300 maybe 320$.

they are made in canada.
