Since the vintage Stratocaster pickup and the vintage Jaguar pickup were of a slightly different design with slightly different sonic characteristics, is there a current Fender pickup that can nail that classic Jaguar tone? I've heard that the '62 Reissue Jaguar pickups can get close but there's some magic missing somewhere.

The SJAG-1 sounds really really good.

I wasn't aware of the SJAG-1 but I imagine that it would sound really good. I have Seymour Duncan Custom Shop DynaSonics in my Gretsch DSV and they sound incredible - better than some vintage ones I've heard!

S-D make 3 serious Jag pups. The SJAG-1s are vintage sounding, the SJAG-2s have that Cobain 90s alt-rock sound and the SJAG-3s are just monsters

So what is it exactly that makes vintage Jag pickups different than vintage Strat pickups. I've compared my '63 Jag to a '61 Strat and while the '61 Strat of course sounds great it doesn't have that distinctive scoopy and quacky "Jag Sound" like on the solo for "I Get Around." I remember reading that they are essentially the same pickup but because of the way the Jag pickups are shielded and mounted they end up being hotter and brighter. Is this correct or am I missing something?
