Hi there!

I have long been looking for a vintage Mustang. The prices are sometimes exaggerated (thanks to Kurt Cobain), I am back on a Duo-Sonic II. I found one from 1966 Artic White. Unfortunately I have only one picture.

Rosewood fingerboard, short scale (22.75'') and no p/u covers. The hardshell case is not original but is from the early 70's (black tolex with red plush). The guy is saying that it plays very very nice.

The price? 1000$ CND (950$ US). Does it worth it?

I'm waiting for some pics of the electronic and the back of the guitar.

That's a bit excessive to be missing items.

How much do you think it worth? I saw a Fender Music Master 1966 with the original hardshell case at 1750$ in Montreal last week.

There's one for the same price with covers and original case.

Ok then I guess it worth about 700$. Original p/u covers can be found for 40-50$ on ebay. The HSC is way more expensive... about 250-350$

Am I right?

Actually, that was a Musicmaster II@_@, not a Duo-sonic 2.

$1000 actually seems like a fair price. I see some others that have the case, but replaced pups going for about $1400

Sounds like a pretty fair price to me. They aren't going to be buyable forever.

But, life puts too much emphasis on money. If it's the guitar you want then I say jump on it.

Look at the last 2 pictures. The Fender decals aren't each in the same spot..

They're both '66s, right? Something doesn't compute. :?

I'd say the paint looks pretty reasonable for a 44-year old guitar, though. Very nice colour, by the way.

Edit: If you'd like to see some pictures, this thread has a few of the Musicmaster I bought:

The current going price for a 65-69 Duo-sonic II is $1,250-$1,450 so the price you were given is very reasonable and it's a funky little guitar too I might add.

Yeah, they're both 66s cuz it's the same guitar. I might be an optic illusion.

I finally paid 800$ for it! I said to the guy that without the pickup covers and the case this guitar doesn't worth 1000$!!

It plays very very well and the pickups are screaming!

Love it!

That would be because you are looking at 2 different guitars . The first is the guitar Tommmmy is buying , the second is a guitar belongs to JK26 who is shwing it as a comparison .
BTW Tommy congrats its a great looking guitar . That is the colour combo I was after when I started buying these guitars , I have 4 now but still haven't got one like this .

It would be nice if somebody could tell me if the switches are normally black on a Duo-Sonic II. If you look to the other Duo-Sonic II of JK26 they are white. Just like a lot I saw on Internet.
