I have a 1956 Fender DuoSonic (21152) that shows it age and wear.

I'm trying to decide whether to have it refurbished or not.

Several of the tuning knob tips have broken off, the guitar has a lot of scratches, and the metal plate in front is worn from use. The rest of the guitar is in good shape and it still sounds great.

Opinions?

Thanks,

Tony

Do you want a serviceable guitar or do you want to preserve the vintage value?

+1

Ceallach's esoteric question needs to be addressed and only you can determine the answer.

If you want a playable instrument, I'd recommend finding direct replacement parts for your Duo-Sonic that will drop on without any modification whatsoever. Save the original parts for "posterity" and leave any finish or paint problems alone. I've seen repro tuner sets and pickguards available on Ebay for reasonable $$$.

Best of luck, HTH

Arjay

I want to preserve the vintage value.

Unfortunately I broke my pinky of my left hand and can't play the way it the way I want to anymore.

Then you don't want to touch a thing. Maybe clean it up a bit, but no refinishing or replacement of any parts.
