Bought a Candy Apple Red Classic player Jaguar a year and a half ago and it is a great guitar. Hot pro setup, 11s and that girls sings!

So great of Jaguar-vibe, it's being replaced with a '62 Reissue USA, next week.

"Ain't nothing like the real thing, Baby...." (who sang that?)

Just got my CAR Classic Player and intonation was great out of the box. Plays great. '62 reissue will be coming in March.

I know this post is a little old, but if anyone finds it like i did,

there is a MAJOR difference between the Classic Player, and the 62 re-issue.... the 62 is AMERICAN the Classic Player is MEXICAN.

I am not too impressed with the classic player, it is not worth the cheap mexican feel for a bridge that rattles and sounds horrible.

I'm with you Floyd,I haven't played a Classic Player so I can't pass an opinion on them but I've played enough MIM Fenders to know this must be an anomaly.I have 2 MIM Strats and an MIM Tele and all are great guitars and I'd challenge anyone to tell the difference in a blindfold playing or listening test.

you both raised valiant points not really addressed in my post....

one of you mentioned about MIM strats and teles and taking the "pepsi challenge" with them and American, and what have you.

A stock MIM tele is beautiful. They are ALMOST identical. However, when it comes to the advanced circuitry, awkwardly wound p/ups, nearly hollow body, string tension/floating bridge, and major grounding issues of a Jazzmaster, no major industry could get it right.

the last time you bought a jazzmaster, and it just "was good" was if you got it from Leo... the Jazzy is a guit that really looses its individuality when run thru mass production.

The thing about American to MIM and CIJ and MIJ is heinously apparently between the places, simply because of effort. It is less about the parts, and how it is assembled.

Just to mention in this discussion: I have AVRI, MIM, CIJ, and MIJ Jazzys, a standard tele, and two MIM telecasters.... the difference is amazing.

Unlike the strats or teles, you can't just make a jazzmaster to spec and expect it to have that same humming warmth. Strats and Tele blueprints are so common, I bet my guitar tech/luthier could wire me a tele p/up in his sleep.... So no wonder after 25 years of Mexican/Japanese guitars, and they are gonna start getting pretty close... but they haven't done enough Jazzys to really get it.

if you have or played a non-american jazzmaster, and you like the tone and feel and sound, that is fine, I am not discrediting that it sounds good... I am just saying it probably doesn't sound like my american jazzys.

most people who settle with Mexi jazzmasters play effect driven indie or punk music. Not surf or blues.

Nice name floyd.....

have you been shamed or shaved?

Sorry about pulling up the old thread.

Replaced the pups on the '95 MIJ Jazzmaster with AVRI Jazzmaster ones and it has become a sweet, sweet guitar.

That said, in the spirit of many-many-playings, comparing a Classic Player Jaguar to a '62 Reissue MI USA Jaguar...

...as nice as it is, the MIJ Jazzmaster still lacks "something" compared with the '62 Ressue MI USA.

Tempted to concede and agree with above; the original JM and Jguar are fiddly non-"herd" guitars to replicate and to date, no one has gotten them right except Fender in the '62 Reissue MI USA.
