I'm thinking about buying a Jazzmaster and I would like to know what are the majors difference between the 62 reissue and the Classic Player Jazzmaster.

Thanks

I believe the fingerboard radius is different, as well as the bridge and the placement of the vibrato mechanism relative to the bridge.

The Classic Player's neck pocket pitch angle is increased by a slight amount. This in conjunction with relocating the vibrato tailpiece closer to the bridge increases the string "break angle" going over the bridge to keep the strings from popping out of their saddles during rigorous picking and/or strumming (which was a major gripe of the original Jazzmaster/Jaguar guitars). If the Classic Player JM were available in colors other than black and 3TSB I'd seriously consider one myself.

(Hello, Corona -- anybody home??? Did y'all run out of Ocean Turquoise Metallic and Olympic White or what???)

Arjay,
I ordered a TTSB today for just those reasons and claims of hotter pick-ups just added fuel to the flam.

Hey! i was wondering if there is a way for me to get a Fender Jazzmaster Block inlay neck (25.5"S - 9.5"R) from fender or someplace else, i tried ebay and craigslist and found nothing, i guess there are some places were you can order a custom made neck, but i wanted to get a fender original, any thoughts?

Sounds swell, John!

Post some pics up after delivery and let's take a look at it.

Fender-Japan recently offered a mid-60's re-issue Jazzmaster with the bound-and-blocked rosewood fretboard. Unfortunately, they screwed the pooch by sticking a pre-CBS headstock decal on it and installing control knobs on the guitar which are incorrect for the era. But if someone parted out one of those guitars and you could buy that neck......

(I've been looking for one myself)

Best of luck, HTH

I see those guitars for sale periodically on Ebay. But I just want the neck -- to install it on a "Classic Player" JM body with the better bridge/trem layout.

Indeed!

But I was thinking more in terms of Ocean Turquoise Metallic with matching headstock.

Bought a Candy Apple Red Classic player Jaguar a year and a half ago and it is a great guitar. Hot pro setup, 11s and that girls sings!

So great of Jaguar-vibe, it's being replaced with a '62 Reissue USA, next week.

"Ain't nothing like the real thing, Baby...." (who sang that?)

Picked up my Jazzmaster today, and I am one happy camper. The new bridge design does seem to keep the strings in place better and there is a real sustain to the 2 pick-up on setting. I'm very happy with the neck, intonation out of the box is fine and no "buzzy" fretts. The over-all tone is pure Jazzmaster, maybe a little brighter. The first 3 Ventures albums are getting the dust blown off them in the mornng. Let's see how much I remember.
I haven't posted pictures yet, but will try soon.
Cheers, John.E

I recently switched the pickups around, no rewiring, allowing the rhythm circuit to work with the 'bridge' pickup now. I like it better now.
