Hi, I'm new here...
I finally broke down and decided to sign up for a class at the local adult school. I'm excited, its something I've always wanted to do.
I played woodwind variety instruments in high school.

I was just researching the model name of my new guitar.
I can't quite figure out what those serial #'s means.

Can someone please fill me in? its:
DG-BS NAT
S/N CD05034240

I picked it up used for $100., the guy said he was giving me a deal.
I also got a case, extra strings, a tuner ...
Anyway, its beautiful - great condition.
Just curious about the year, make, etc ...

Any info or advise on starting out would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi. So you got yourself an acoustic guitar.... Welcome to the world of guitars!

Are you sure it says DG-BS on the label inside the guitar? Hmmm.. nver heard of DG-BS. The model number might actually be DG-8S.
See here: http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0950801100
and here: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... 3wodQgNh1g

It's hard to date these Chinese made acoustics by serial number. Look here: http://www.fender.com/support/odd_serial_numbers.php
But looking at the specs on Fender's product page it says this model was introduced in 2003, so your guitar is from anywhere between now and 2003 if that matters. You could always email Fender customer service with the serial number and get the scoop from them.

You might get more help in the Fender Acoustic Instruments section of this forum.

Good luck with your lessons. Have fun!

That was quite the thread hijack! You might want to start a new thread with this question. Try one of the "Bass" forums here. Good luck.

Spammer? That's quite rude of you accusing me as a spammer.

I am here to ask help from guys who are willing to share, not to argue with such unreasonable issues.

If you are not going help, don't start to flame!
This forum is created to post what we wanted to know... You are ruining this thread!

Relax webmasterjames. I'll do a good deed and try to help. You hijacked sdblondie's thread he started about his guitar. As a "webmaster", maybe you know that is not good web etiquette. Your question about 4 or 5 string bass guitars has nothing to do with sdblondie's thread OR with the forum sub topic "All other Fender guitars".

I cannot answer your bass question. I have no experience or interest in 5 string basses.

You'll have better luck starting a new thread in the bass guitar section of this forum. You've got your choice of Precision Bass, Jazz Bass, or "All other Fender bass guitars". I'm sure bassists there will be more than happy to help, especially if you start a new thread and not hijack someone else's. Good luck.

Some useful information in here. I'm in search of my first guitar after having used my brother's for ages, and can't wait to get my hands on it.
