Did you recalled those famous Esprit and Flame thinlines used by blues-rock master Robben Ford? These Dan Smith-designed guitars were initially made by Fender Japan in 1984 before becoming the now famous Robben Ford signature series models made at Custom Shop in the good ol' USA.

Very tasty axes. Both the Esprit and Flame sported a pair of humbuckers and a variety of cool options to choose from.

The USA-made versions were by far better in terms of quality and workmanship. Tough luck, these guitars are no longer produced.

Fender should bring back the Robben Ford signature series, at least under the Squier banner. Your opinion matters.

(Feel free to note that's my first poll about a discontinued Fender product).

They reissued the Esprit (although obviously not the Robben Ford sig) under the Squier banner as part of the Master Series. It did not sell, so they cancelled it.

I have been looking for one to match my M80....

Greg Fessler and Gene Baker were chiefly responsible for Robben's guitars.

If you want one, the Custom Shop can make you one.

Greg Fessler was Robben's master luthier for nearly two decades. But he's not alone. There are other guys at the Custom Shop who build those Robben Ford signature guitars.

Robben doesn't only play Esprits and Flames. He likes Strats and Teles as well.
