during the early sixties it was made with Ash or Alder? I mean the standard version, in cream solid color.

I believe all Esquires were made of ash.

I think so.
A luthier here in Italy told me that solid colors were made of alder, I told him that all Esquires were made of ash but I wanted to be sure of that.

Those were great guitars if you have one. Most that I remember were made of ash with the ashtray bridge cover. The 'cream' or off white color would turn to a hue of yellow quickly after being used in the smoky clubs, bars and nightclubs back then.
