Hi There

I've got this CIJ Jaguar reissue 62, beautiful guitar, but i have a problem with the volume pot (the knob, not the wheel)
I just got it like 2 weeks ago from ebay and everything is perfect apart from that.

So this is what happens: i'm playing and decide to turn the volume down to clean up the tone while using my fuzz or distortion or whatever, suddenly the tone cuts by 50% at least when the knob is turned counter-clockwise (down) by 3/8, its really annoying because in fact i need to get more highs and brilliance when turning down that knob... have you got any idea of what's going on?

i have some pictures on flickr that you can check so you can tell me if something is not right with the wiring... i already checked against the diagram for an american reissue (i can't find the diagram for the japanese version but i assume they're pretty much the same) and everything seems to be normal.

Could a faulty pot be the reason for this?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome.

I doubt its the pot. Chances are your preamps are simply too much on the guitar's circuit for the pot to continue working within its dynamic curve.

What you are experiencing is normal. Try the popular 'treble bleed' mod to the volume pot to retain treble as you roll the volume down. Choice of capacitor varies with taste. Here are some google results: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sour ... l&gs_rfai=

Good luck!
