I have noticed that the tubes in my Crate Vintage Club 30 have started to wear out from misuse. Is there any specific tubes that I can replace the old ones with? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am primarily a "hardcore" music player.

You'll need 4x 12AX7 and 4x EL84.

Try Jan Philips or Mullard if you want to spend the money.

Would I be able to get a heavier sound from some of the Mullards?

With the Mullard EL84 you'd get more overdrive. For the 12AX7 you may want to try the Jan Philips instead.

I like the Jensen Vintage Alnico Series, the P12N has a bit more crunch than others.

Here's a footswitch that should fit your amp:

Why get rid of it? If it works keep it, they can sound pretty sweet and it's not gonna lose its value.

I have no intention to get rid of it. If I can fix it then I will.

Dave I have the Crate Vintage 50 the beige colored one and it is the best sounding amp for classic rock and blues than amps that cost 4X the money. If you check Harmony Centrals users reviews I think the vintage series is the highest rated sound wise period, I read where even PRS owns one. Okay the down slide is it weighs as much as a small car, that is why mine is in the finished basement and has never moved and the tubes are in the worst spot they can be in. The sad part is Crate never corrected these problems and really had magic in a bottle and blew it as they never made anything that came close to the vintage series.

As I look at the tubes available, the options tell me Soft, Medium, or Hard in either Duet of Quartet. Can anybody help me determine what this means?
