Hi all,

I have a 98 Toronado MIM and was quite rough on the pickup switch years ago.

Assumptions:
up - bridge pickup
middle - both
down - neck pu

The only one I seem to be having a problem is DOWN position. If I turn all the nobs to 0, and the BRIDGE volume to max, I hear nothing.

The only time I hear anything is my favourite trebbly tone when I turn the NECK volume nob between 2 and 8. Or a more bassy tone with NECK volume between 8 and 10.

Is this some electronic routing unique to this or maybe just a faulty switch causing it?

Thanks

Down should be for the bridge position, the middle should be for both positions and up should be for the neck position. Apparently your switch is either mounted backwards or wired backwards.

The usual way a 3 way switch/two volume/two tone Fender is wired, shutting off either volume control will kill the entire circuit. There are other ways to wire this circuit where the volume of each pickup can function independent of each other but that is a completely different matter.

Based on my first paragraph, you might want to have your wiring checked out by a COMPETENT tech.

Sorry I mixed everything up on my post!

Due to doing some kill switchin and knocking the guitar about the switch was a little messed up. I was about to replace it and noticed how simple (and effective) the switch was.

When I put it in the down (for bridge pickup) it wasn't seperating the little metal connector, so I made a slight adjustment to the metal prong and now the selector and all the electornics are behaving as the person in the above comment posted.

I just saved myself a tenner!
