Hello all, new to the forum and have a few questions.

Just purchased a Classic Player Jaguar Special HH and need some advice on the tremolo setup. When using the tremolo, the arm has to be pressed almost down to the pickguard to give an effect. Then when released, it either returns to a half step flat or a whole step sharp. Never the same twice though. Also, the tremolo lock does not seem to function properly, (i.e. does not stop the tremolo from going sharp).
I read the setup guide and followed the instructions, I can not seem to get a response from the adjustment spring when turned in either direction.
Is there something I am missing in the setup, or possibly the spring is not attached? There is tension on the adjustment screw in both directions.

I love the many sounds the pickup configurations allow and the playablity is great. With new flatwounds on it and the tremolo figured out this will be a perfect surf guitar.
Thanks

Follow up,
After some tinkering, I have the lock setup. Still seems to need a lot of travel to hear any tremolo effect. I equal that to the freeplay in the screw in arm. So a little bending of the arm and some electrical tape should fix that up.
Still have an issue with returning to a stable tuned position after use though. Installed the flatwound 11's and still the same.
This is the first time using this tremolo system. My Talon has the Floyd Rose and my HSS Strat has the standard(to me) tremolo. So I am guessing there is some sort of "breakin" period for this one.
Again I love the tones of this Jaguar and if you get a chance, test drive one. Well worth it.
