Bought this just yesterday for $450. It's a Japanese '86 Fender Jaguar Reissue. Amazing guitar. Tweaked the action a bit and it plays like a dream.

Now both my main guitar and amp are of the same era. 8)

It does need a bit of a restoration. The tremolo has been improperly converted to a hardtail piece because somewhere down the line someone pulled a Kirk Krobain and removed the entire tremolo bar sleeve assembly. The original knobs have also been replaced with black Tele knobs.

Other than that, it's in pretty solid shape with the patina I love to see on a 24 year-old instrument.

Aside from replacing the above items, the saddles will be replaced with Mustang ones, the pickguard will be replaced with nice new black one, and I'm thinking about putting a reverse wound/reverse polarity Seymour Duncan Jag pickup at the neck and a QP Jag pickup at the bridge.

I'm also toying with the idea making the rhythm circuit something of a boost circuit that will work with either pickup.

Thanks guys. 8)

The clean tones I can get out of the Stage 185 and this Jag are, hands down, some of the best I've ever heard.

As soon as my acoustic Ibanez sells, I'm probably going to slap down a few bucks for Warmoth's Mustang replacement bridge. I like the fact the saddles can be adjusted for individual height over a standard Fender unit.

I am curious as to weather or not I would need to tape the posts like everyone suggests, though. I do plan on using my vibrato once that issue is fixed, so of course I want to keep the rocking action of the bridge ...

Thank ya, sir.

I'm starting to wonder if the neck wasn't finished in nitro. It's starting to wear heavily around the edges in a way I've never seen poly do before ...

Great deal for a great guitar however Iwouldn't change the original Jag pups as it's them that are responsible for giving the Jag it's classic tone. Replace the pups and you'll loose the signature Jag tone.

Thanks. 8) Don't worry; the pickup changes (Seymour Duncan Reverse/Reverse Hot Jag pickup for the neck and a Seymour Duncan Quarter-Pound Jag pickup for the bridge) are just thoughts, like the rhythm to boost circuit conversion. I don't know if I'm actually going to do any of that yet (especially the circuit conversion).

However, the tone would still be distinctly Jaguar, just a little hotter. I see the pickup choices I mentioned above as Jaguar equivalents to Texas Special and Tex-Mex Stratocaster pickups. A Strat with those pickups would still sound like a Strat, just with more punch. The same would be true with my Jaguar with the Hot Jag and QP Jag pups, it would still sound like a Jaguar, just ballsier.

I know for a fact the stock pickups would respond better to a higher quality overdrive/distortion pedal, which I lack. I played a used American Vintage Jag through a Tubescreamer and a used Frontman 65R and the tone managed to come out pretty thick. Boss DS-1s don't offer much in the way of a good overdriven, heavy tone. I'm not wanting to play death metal with my Jag, no, but I do appreciate a good, heavy tone should I need to use it. The weak spot so far in my rig are my pedals.

Glad the Jag persuaded your wife to take the offset road less traveled. :D

I have always wanted a Jag and in January 2003 I ordered it but the colour I wanted (SunBurst) was not available so I got the ice blue instead, However It's still a USA Jag and sounds great.

But I still think about the SunBurst colour..

You Got a great guitar there bud.
