I found both of these on craigslist.I have also played the musicmaster II at the local guitar store.(put that I would play it and I did)It plays like a dream!!!!!!.I love the sleak body and I love that it is older than my dad!!I havent played the jaguar yet and wondered if it's a good guitar. They are both at the same price of 500.But the only problem is that it is white and I dont think they made it in white and that it doesn't have the bolt in the neck.Would it have a chance that it is fake?

In 64 Musicmasters were available in red, white and blue.If it's a 64 the serial No. should have an "L" prefix,it appears to be legit and if so is in superb condition and well worth $500.That being said the Jaguar is a much more versatile guitar capable of many different tones and you can switch from a relatively low volume to a higher volume at the flick of a switch for lead breaks. Both are short scale but the Jag has more bells and whistles.BTW I don't get what you mean by "bolt in the neck"if you mean truss rod it's adjustment is at the base of the neck not above the nut as in many newer Fenders ,it usually meant removing the neck.

I have seen others in brown that have a bolt on headstock. It was a '67 though

pickup not original, non-original pot, warping...... meh it sounds like more of a collectors item than a player, but thats just my opinion

Floyd seems to have gotten his wires crossed, the controls on the tone and volume are indeed correct for a 64 Musicmaster as they had Tele style chrome control buttons and went to plastic in 65.The pup could well be original and just the cover replaced as these covers were prone to breakage after several years due to the plastic becoming brittle.Any warpage in the pickguard wouldn't affect the playability of the guitar for $500 it's still a good deal and unless the seller says any hardware isn't original my guess is that it is.Having said that the Jag is still the more versatile of the two.
