If i remember rightly there are a few guys here that own Fender Performers. The chances of me finding one and being able to afford it are very slim so i thought i'd build one, as close as i can anyway.
In the past i've built a Jag-Stang and a clone of Johnny Ramones Mosrite so im quite confident about this.

The big favor is i would like someone to do me a tracing of the body shape and headstock. The pickguard would be great too but i dont expect anyone to start dismantling guitars here.
I will pay for shipping (im in the UK) whether the tracing be on paper, card or thin ply/mdf.

I'd like confirmation that neck scale is 25.5 (like a Strat) with 24 frets as well, google does'nt seem to be throwing up much information on these.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks. :)

Hopefully Alain will show up. He has quite a few Performers and is very knowledgable on those. 8)

Good to hear Alain. Same here. I have taken to building my own latley rather than purchasing. They cost more this way as I am very picky...lol
I went and poured myself a glass of Parisian absinthe after the last response. À votre santé
Good to hear from you! 8) -N

WOW!!

Your collection is shockingly amazing Alain. Congrats.
The cream model is my favorite with the lighter green one shortly behind. was'nt there a Burgundy Mist model too?

Thanks for the info, pictures and offering to help. The thing i need the most is an outline of the body shape and headstock shape, you could simply draw around the body on a piece of card. I can then transfer that to wood and make a routing template, that is what i did with the Mosrite i built..

The final result was this..

The scratchplate shape would also be very useful but i dont expect you to take a guitar apart, so unless you have a spare or already have a template please dont worry about that.
I can pay for the postage if you send me the tracings, just let me know

How did you come about all these models? They're worth quite a lot of money now, you must be very pleased.

Fran

Performers are not that expensive.
The main problem I foresee when contemplating building one is the hardware; it's virtually impossible to find the pups, the tremolo block and the easy to lose hard to find tremolo bar.
I'm a seller, just email me at alainlafrance AT orange .fr (replace AT by @)

Depends what you class as expensive
I understand the hardware would be a nightmare to find, i was willing to change parts for similar but nothing better than the real deal.

That looks quite light for Burgundy Mist (maybe just the light on the shot), my bm Jaguar was a lot darker than that.

I'll drop you an email about it in the next few days dude anyway.
