About 20 years ago I bought a Lake Placed Blue, with competition stripes, Fender Mustang. This guitar was incomplete and had been stored away ever since. unfortunatly did the previous owner change the Mustang, in the grunge era drasticly, he installed a Dimarzio humbucker in the bridge position ruining the pickguard, the origanal bridge pick-up and the 2 switches, wher thrown away, all the electronics where disconneted and lost, only the humbucker was working and the bridge was missing. Luckely was the original neck pick-up kept and had only a esthetic value,The mustang had an awfull look, because it was done by a hobbyist.
But I bought it anyway, payed 80$? because the neck was good and the body was nicely aged into a greenish blue.
Now 2010, I decided finely to restore the Mustang completely, I ordered the missing parts from Fender original replacement parts, so that the Mustang will be restored to the last screw with the original thing. I even bought a original silver Fender Mustang case for it.
I can't wait to hear and enjoy the Mustang at last.
The reason I did store the Mustang away for such a long time is that where I live (Belgium) is it a real drag to get Fender Original parts. 20 year ago there where no replacement parts availlable, it's only after that Fender did reissue the Mustang in Japan that things changed.
The order I placed for the mustang is now 3months ago, but this can go up to a year, when I get finaly everything. this is really a pitty.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I would gladly post some pictures, but I am new here, how does it work to place pictures. It would be great, so I could also send in a photo of the neckplate with the serial number, because I don't know of wich year the Mustang is.

Cool story. Any photos to share before you complete the project? I would like to see it.

Agreed, and yes I read your answer to this.

I happen to love Mustangs.

Here's hoping you don't have to wait much longer.
